If the nerve of a tooth becomes infected, root canal therapy is used to disinfect and seal the root of the tooth. Botox can help to diminish the appearance of various lines and wrinkles by relaxing muscle contractions in key areas for a softer look. Typical areas of treatment include: Forehead wrinkles, frown lines, crow's feet and smokers lines.
Collagen naturally occurs in the skin but with aging collagen production is reduced and consequently your facial features lose volume as you age. Dermal fillers can replace this plumpness in the cheeks, lips and eye area. Your skin will be hydrated, and collagen production encouraged with a quick injection that can be done conveniently at our practice. Treatment lasts for between 12-18 months
Dr van der Merwe received his BChD degree from Stellenbosch University and University of the Western Cape in 2008.
Furthering his development in the field of dentistry Dr van der Merwe also successfully completed a two year certificate courses in Oral Implantology at the University of Pretoria. He also holds certificates in Botox and dermal fillers and completed an advanced dermal filler course which equipped him to do the 7 point lift technique by means of dermal fillers, among other things.
For five years Dr van der Merwe had his own successful practice in Sea Point, Cape Town before permanently relocating to the beautiful Swakopmund in 2015.
His prime area of interests is aesthetic dentistry, including full mouth rehabilitations. He is also passionate about technological developments in the field of dentistry and enjoys keeping his finger on the pulse of new advances in this field.
Dr Stephan is passionate about changing people’s perceptions about visits to the dentist. Nothing gives him greater satisfaction than achieving beautiful and functional results whilst also making the experience enjoyable for his valued patients.
Outside of the practice you will most likely find him catching waves on his bodyboard, playing inline hockey, strumming his guitar or painting something colourful. He loves spending time outdoors with his wife Anna and their two Scottish Terriers and is an avid Star Wars fan.
